The wedding ceremony was orchestrated by the very Rev. Canon Eric Woods and held in the magnificent Sherborne abbey which was originally founded by St. Aldhelm in AD 705! with the cathedrals magnificent stature and glorious fan vaulted roof , which is probably one of the best example of this feature in the world, and has been said to stand up against any contemporary work of the Italian Renaissance.
The Abbey has since then been developed from a Saxon cathedral to a monastic community, and finally, to one of the most beautiful of England's parish churches. For many though it is still the 'cathedral of Dorset'.
Sophie and Charlie's wedding started with the bridal party at the beautiful Eastbury Hotel in Sherborne and with some of the Groom’s party meeting up in the very quaint Plume of Feathers Pub right opposite the Cathedral. The weather promised to be good from the start of the day as we were in the middle of a glorious patch of beautiful hot (but rare!) English summer. I don’t think one could have asked for anything better, everything was simply perfect. After a truely memorable service and photographs, the bride, groom and guests traveled a bit further south to Kingston Maurward College, for the reception and the rest of the day. This also turned out to be an even more stunning venue than usual with the hot sunshine and taking advantage of some fantastic photo opportunities in the beautiful Kingston Maurward Gardens. Wow.. What a wedding day!
