Here's a couple of shots from some walks on Dartmoor just outside Tavistock and one from the view at the Oasis Cafe on a blustery day in Weymouth. Both highly recommended. The beautiful town of Sherborne was the venue for the recent marriage of Rhowela and Daniel.

After a beautiful ceremony in The Manor House the bride and Groom accompanied by their guests from both Sherborne and surrounding areas as well as many others travelling to be at their wedding from distant countries overseas met in the stunning Newland's gardens after the wedding for photography and relaxation.  The Bride and Groom and their guests then met at a private venue for celebrations.

Alex & Hazel's Wedding, Parley Manor, Christchurch, June 2014 Compton Acres, Bamboos Compton Acres Japanese gardens

I first met Alex and Hazel at their home in Wimborne, Dorset.  Alex and Hazel live very busy lives with Alex working for a leading Accountancy firm and Hazel running her own business - yes it was difficult to tie them down for their engagement shoot ! but we eventually agreed to meet in May at Compton Acres, Poole.  These gardens were founded in 1920 and are privately owned.  They offer truly spectacular walks and views (and therefore also great photo opportunities) from The Italian Villa and Italian gardens, a wooded valley, rock and water gardens, heather garden and finishing via a sculpture trail with the amazing Japanese Gardens - with just leaving us time to discuss wedding photography plans in the very upmarket cafe tea rooms!  A fun and enjoyable experience had by us all (  For this shoot we were very lucky with the weather and really could not have asked for a better day.  We took some great shots all over the entire park with the highlight of the day being a fantastic shot with them in the Japanese Gardens and again looking right over the entire gardens.

Parley manor, Stunning gardens Parley Manor, Pavillion Getting wed! Parley Manor, Bride and Bridesmaids After the Wedding Ceremony at Parley Manor

Alex and Hazel's wedding then took place in June at Parley Manor, near Bournemouth, Dorset. ( Again fantastic weather and clearly they were getting some divine inspiration on choosing venues, dates and the weather!  Parley Manor is a magnificent Georgian manor house set in 4 acres of parkland and again with fantastic gardens.  The venue and gardens were truly spectacular on Hazel and Alexis' day and provided a truly romantic and thoroughly enjoyable day for both them and their guests. The civil ceremony took place in the beautiful Pavillion and because the weather was good this was partly open to the gardens - magnificent! The wedding reception was held in an elegant marque situated in the Italian walled gardens.  So not only did we have some great opportunities to capture those precious memories that will last a lifetime but we were also able to throughly enjoy the day with them as well! Congratulations to Hazel & Alex!

Anna & Chris - Salterns Harbourside Hotel Poole Dorset Anna & Chris at Salterns Harbourside Hotel In PoolePre-wedding meeting with Anna & Chris at the Salterns Harbourside Hotel in Poole

Pre-Wedding Meeting with Anna & Chris in Poole

I met with Anna & Chris at the Salterns hotel yesterday to look over some of the spots we will use to capture their wedding moments when they tie-the-knot later this year in April 2014.

The Hotel is located by the waters edge on the prestigious Salterns Marina with boats moored outside and in an area famous for its history and outstanding natural beauty. (Poole Harbour is the second largest natural harbour in the world).

All I can say is that "This really is a fantastic place for a wedding with amazing views over the sea and surrounding coastal areas"

The Salterns Harbourside Hotel is a  stylish and romantic Hotel situated right in Poole Harbour with spectacular sea views over the  Harbour and boats, Sandbanks and Brownsea Island.

Anna & Chris are now finalising their planning for this idyllic outside wedding in the Hotel gardens, with views over the Harbour and boats during the ceremony ! Wawahh..

Hey we really are looking forward to capturing your special moments Anna & Chris, so until the wedding day take care and we will see you there!

Jill & Malcom's wedding photography Weymouth Jill & Malcolm's Wedding Photography - Weymouth

My first meeting with Jill and Malcolm at weymouth registry office was well timed just before the Christmas break to go through their wedding photography requirements. Weymouth BayLooking out to sea from Weymouth It really was a beautiful day for a "meet" and the sun was shining on them.  Of course we hope it will be the same when the big day arrives in March next year!  But what ever the weather then we are now prepared! having planned a full party group shot (I will need to bring the step ladder however!) as well as looking at some bride and groom shots just over the way in the beautifully tended Greenhill Gardens.  The gardens looked very attractive on our "walk-around" and we have picked some great spots to capture those precious moments after they are wed.  A favourite spot of mine and I realise now also of theirs.  How much they also enjoy this part of Weymouth as well as frequently taking walks along that beautiful stretch of coastline from  Bowleaze Cove, along the walkway parallel to Preston Road and the Esplanade and into Weymouth.  With probably some of the most stunning views along the south west coast path both out across Weymouth Bay towards Lulworth & Swanage, as well as the beautiful views inland towards Lodmoor bird reserves - we can only but 100 percent agree with them!  Yes a great place to get married and a fantastic landscape to get some pictures after the wedding.  We hope also maybe to use the new Weymouth Bandstand, if its ready in time, as that could create some really fantastic shots right out across the Weymouth bay.  Congratulations to them both and look forward to doing their wedding photography in Weymouth in 2014.

..........Many couples find it difficult to select guests so a good idea is to start with close family i.e parents, brothers and sisters and decide at this point if there will be any Bridesmaids or Ushers, Page Boys or Flower Girls. The Matron of Honour and the Best Man help the Bride and Groom prepare for the Wedding and they offer moral support and practical help on the Wedding Day. These people make up the basic list also most guests will want to bring their partner and any children.

Modern families contain step-mothers and step-fathers and half brothers and sisters which can add to the number of close relatives. Sometimes these complex families are difficult to organise, especially in regard to photographs and seating but the important point is that the day is all about the couple who are getting married and in an ideal world their family should be supportive and happy for them!

Everyone loves a wedding and wants to get involved but it is important for the couple to stay in control of the occasion and to plan things together in their own way. This may be the first big event they have organised as a couple and all advice is just that, advice and not a demand.

A Perfect Day

Accept right from the start that a wedding is not going to be perfect no matter how much time and effort goes into the planning! Problems can arise in any area – the venue is low on staff or time due to an unforeseen crisis, or the weather is too hot or wet, one or more guests can’t come or have had traffic problems en-route, a bridesmaid has caught chicken pox, the usher has broken his leg, the list of things that can go wrong is endless. Thankfully most of these things don’t happen and the best advice is to keep communications going so that everyone knows what to do and when, and the couple are up to date with situations. So make sure everybody has the right contact details and........Most important of all DON’T WORRY!.................

Sophie & Charlie's wedding - Sherborne Abbey & Kingston Maurward

The wedding ceremony was orchestrated by the very Rev. Canon Eric Woods and held in the magnificent Sherborne abbey which was originally founded by St. Aldhelm in AD 705! with the cathedrals magnificent stature and glorious fan vaulted roof , which is probably one of the best example of this feature in the world, and has been said to stand up against any contemporary work of the Italian Renaissance.

The Abbey has since then been developed from a Saxon cathedral to a monastic community, and finally, to one of the most beautiful of England's parish churches. For many though it is still the 'cathedral of Dorset'.

Sophie and Charlie's wedding started with the bridal party at the beautiful Eastbury Hotel in Sherborne and with some of the Groom’s party meeting up in the very quaint Plume of Feathers Pub right opposite the Cathedral.  The weather promised to be good from the start of the day as we were in the middle of a glorious patch of beautiful hot (but rare!) English summer.  I don’t think one could have asked for anything better, everything was simply perfect.  After a truely memorable  service and photographs, the bride, groom and guests traveled a bit further south to Kingston Maurward College, for the reception and the rest of the day.  This also turned out to be an even more stunning venue than usual with the hot sunshine and taking advantage of some fantastic photo opportunities in the beautiful Kingston Maurward Gardens. Wow.. What a wedding day!

Maria & Peter's Wedding Kingston Maurward Maria & Peter's wedding -Lady St Mary Church & Kingston Maurward

Maria & Peter's wedding started with a service at the Lady St. Mary Church in Wareham, Dorset. The church of Anglo-Saxon origin and dating back to the 7th century is a real stunner!  Suzie the vicar was happy for me to use flash on arrival & during the signing of the register and of the bride & groom leaving the altar. She was also  very happy for me to move about freely during the service saying  "normally I take no notice of photographers!".  So it was really great to know I could capture the wedding photographs and be at ease during the ceremony. I'm sure it must have helped that Maria's dad was also a prominent pastor in the area! But seriously, checking on the ground rules first always helps the bride and groom to feel at ease and Maria & Peter then knew I could get the shots they asked for without worrying. Should I mention the slight hiccup of the bride's flowers being left behind in the house (10 mins away) ! Hey this was another blessing in disguise it gave us time to take some extra wedding photographs outside the church.  Also by this time of day (2.30pm) it really was so hot  (yes in England) and the church gave everybody the chance to cool off - The inside temperature was just perfect.

Yes this was another of 2013 summer's really hot days!

After the ceremony and group photographs outside the church the day continued at Kingston Mauward College. A truely beautiful venue at this time of year with the gardens so well attended and in full bloom, basking in the glorious summer sun with a variety of colours, hues and the hints of summer scents. We took lots of wedding photographs and they were all blessed by the going down afternoon sun.  Gosh... it was hot though, but the couple did  managed to find shade around the various garden buildings and once or twice I think the bride found more imaginative ways of cooling off!

Hey a really great wedding day and we managed to capture it with some really stunning photographs that Maria & Peter can look back on over a lifetime.

Beth & Martin's Bransgore & Christchurch Wedding

We started out with the bridal prep shots which were done in the Brides Brother's house nearby to St Mary's church, Bransgore.  The bride's brother and wife were just great and being newly weds themselves helped out a lot.  We got some really great shots of Beth getting ready as well as some super family shots with her Dad and the children. Beth's daughter showed us what it means to dance joyfully and carried on doing this for the whole day as far as I can remember, bringing an air of lightness and joy to the whole day!

Not to be left out, however, the groom, best man and ushers met at that really special place The Three Tuns Pub.  I might say located in a pretty good location, literally over the road from the church.  Guess I will have to assume thats good luck rather than planning.  Anyway the pub has a lovely oak-beamed bar and  fireplaces which we used for some really memorable shots of Martin and the guys.  Not just content with that, however, we wandered around the lovely extensive gardens and plants and super water features grabbing some more photos of the groom while he tried to finish his pint! This is no ordinary pub ...and the beers good as well.

Onto the church and the bridesmaids arrived first in the amazing ivory coloured Bramworth wedding car. An immaculate special 4 door saloon car with number plate C3 VOW !  The car then collected the bride and as the car came around the corner and stopped at the church we managed to get some great shots as Beth (looking absolutely radiant) left the car and walked up the path escorted by her Dad and the bridesmaids.  The only thing was it was very windy on this mid June day and so we had to be quick.  All worked perfectly, however.

After the beautiful service we grabbed a few wedding photographs outside the church before the wind blew us all away and then drove to Christchurch for the main reception but first of all stopping off at the Christchurch bandstand to grab some very special shots indeed of Beth and Martin together (and thankfully sheltered from the wind and rain by the roof of the bandstand).  From then on the Bride & groom made there way to a private evening venue for party and wedding breakfast.  An unusual day with the weather but it made it all that more special to help remember those very special moments, and there were many of them, which we truely captured on camera.

Pre-Wedding meeting Selene & Richard This was the second time I had met Selene & Richard.  This time is was to review their up and coming wedding at the RNLI centre in Poole.

Well if ever there was an excellent venue for a wedding then this is surely one of them and thanks to Jessica for her patience in showing us around and answering all my questions!  With stunning reception rooms and sweeping views across the harbour (and the sun was actually shining ) this is a great place to tie-the-knot.  We also visited the Custom House on Poole Quay before finally walking around to St James Church where the couple will be having their wedding service.  Looking forward to capturing what should be some great shots at several beautiful locations in Poole. Congratulations again to Selene, Richard & The Dog!

Amanada & Neil's Wedding Royal Bath Hotel Bournemouth

Christmas Wedding Royal bath Bournemouth

The Royal Bath Hotel is a superb venue, with its romantic Victorian charm mixed elegant reception rooms and amazing views over the English Channel, making this hotel one of the most popular establishments in Bournemouth. The staff made it all worthwhile and Amanda and Neil's Christmas wedding was really almost perfect. We captured some great wedding photography shots of the day as well as taking some time out with the bride and groom alone for those special memory shots. The only thing was we couldn't make the beach photography shots due to the rain and cold weather - never mind a really amazing day with plenty of Christmas Cheer as well!
